Our department is now hiring for the following student positions:
Events Assistant
The
Events Assistant develops, promotes, and executes preparation and
staffing for departmental/campus events. These events include, but are
not limited to: Transportation Fair, Homecoming, First Look Fair,
Orientations, Visit Maryland Day, Bike Week, StampFest, etc… The
position requires approximately 10-15 hours a week, some Saturday work
required, with $8.25/hr compensation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Attending the various events and responding to the inquiries of event attendees
· Measuring success of events and programs by using surveys or other methods to gain feedback regarding programs
· Working on arts and crafts projects for events and maintaining campus signage
· Wssisting of Graphics Team in creation of advertising campaigns using fliers, posters, brochures and other promotional materials
· Creating and editing videos for the department using video equipment and video editing software
· Writing and proofreading copy for department website and promotional materials.
This student should:
· Have strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm to interact with the public
· Be highly motivated and able to take initiative to complete tasks
· Enjoy working on creative craft projects
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
· Knowledge of Final Cut Pro or iMovie is preferred
Student Graphics Specialist
The
team of Graphics Specialists reports to the Marketing and Graphics
Coordinator and the Graphics manager in developing graphical material
that will aid the effective dissemination of departmental information
and the marketing strategies of the Department of Transportation
Services. The position requires approximately 10-15 hours a week with
$11.15/hr compensation. Graduating seniors are not eligible for this
position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Production of fliers, brochures, posters, logos and Shuttle-UM bus schedules
· Creation of imagery for posting to the department’s website
· Assisting the Marketing Team with strategies and representation at events
· Production of signs for campus parking and/or Shuttle-UM
This student should:
· Have strong, working knowledge of layout and graphic presentation principles
· Demonstrate working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
· Possess strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm to interact with the public
· Be team oriented, flexible and able to effectively adapt to change
