Join Phi Chi Theta, the Maryland Basketball team, and Zach's family for the first annual Zaching Against Cancer 5K Run/Walk.

This Run/Walk will be held on the campus of University of Maryland on Sunday, October 5th at 10am. All proceeds will benefit the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation. Since this race will take place throught the beautiful campus of UMD, runners and walkers will stay on the marked sidewalks and paths, and observe all traffic signals and crosswalks. All participants are asked to check-in at our tables infront of Stamp Student Union at9:30am in order to register and pick up shirts. Parking in Lot 1 is free on Sundays. There will be 2 waves of participants. The first wave will be our "Runner Wave" at 10:30am, followed shortly by our "Walker Wave" at 10:35am. Waves will depart from Nyumburu Amphitheater (Plaza inbetween Hornbake Library and Stamp), runners will head through McKeldin Mall, up past Ludwig and Byrd Stadium, down to the Xfinity Center, and ending back at the Amphitheater.
Zach Lederer will forever remain in the hearts of millions. Zach was a student at the University of Maryland, and a manager on the Men's Basketball team. When Zach was 11 years old, he overcame a brain tumor, and during his freshman year at Maryland, cancer struck again. A photo of Zach, taken hours after his surgery as a sign to his friends and family that he was okay, went viral across the nation in a matter of days. The now iconic Zaching pose is a sign of strength and inspiration to anyone fighting cancer or any other disease.
