Fall 2014 Application
Dear Prospective SPC Executive Board Member,
Thank you for your interest in an Executive Board position
on the Honors College Student Programming Council (SPC). The purpose of SPC is
to foster community among the students of the Honors College through
student-run programming. The Council will work closely with Honors College
Staff and will be responsible for the planning and execution of Honors events.

The attached materials will help you to prepare for the
process of becoming an SPC Executive Board member. Enclosed you will find: a
description outlining the different responsibilities of an Executive Board
member and the formal application.
The first step is to complete the application (including
unofficial transcript) and email it to honorsSPC@gmail.com by Friday, September 12th. You will be contacted for an interview
shortly thereafter and notified with a decision after all interviews have been
completed.
**Please ONLY
apply if you are available on Thursday from 6-7PM (or at least a half hour
period within that hour) to attend our weekly SPC Executive Board meetings.
For successful planning and execution of our events, it is crucial you are able
to participate in the majority of our meetings.

Outline of What to Expect
Positions and Responsibilities:
President-Elect*
-
Responsible for overseeing the successful
planning and execution of event ideas

Responsible for serving as liaison to Honors
College Staff
-
Responsible for managing internal listserv and
membership list
-
*Will work with the current President for about
a semester to be appropriately introduced to the organizational structure of
SPC and duties of the President before fully taking the position. This is to ensure
a smooth transition into this leadership role.
Vice
President-Elect*
-
Responsible for supporting the President and
fulfilling duties of the President when he or she is unable to do so

Responsible for supporting event chairs
-
Responsible for taking meeting minutes and
distributing them
-
* Will work with the current Vice President for
about a semester to be appropriately introduced to the organizational structure
of SPC and duties of the VP before fully taking the position. This is to ensure
a smooth transition into this leadership role.
Treasurer

Responsible for creating an on-campus bank
account for SPC

Responsible for securing, allocating, and
overseeing funding and expenses

Responsible for working with event committees on
their budgets

Responsible for working closely with SPC’s fundraising
events
Webmaster/Historian

Responsible for revamping and updating SPC’s
website
-
Responsible for taking pictures at SPC events
and uploading them to the website
Program Liaisons

Responsible for PR to their program; will get
assistance from other members

Responsible for addressing the interests of
their individual program

Responsible for working with Program GA’s in
support of the events

Responsible for recruiting new members to SPC
Interview Process
When you submit your application, we ask that you sign up
for times you are available for an interview. The interviews will last roughly
15 minutes, and we will discuss your interest and ideas, as well as answer any
questions you may have. Interviews will take place on Tuesday, February 12th.
