Research Opportunity for Native Spanish Speaker

Interested in gaining experience in research?

The Family Involvement Laboratory IS LOOKING FOR AN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT to begin immediately, to either receive credits for next semester or for the winter.

The student will serve as a research assistant responsible for coding and transcribing parent/child interactions and potentially child assessments in Spanish and English for the Family Involvement Lab. Currently we are conducting a study on Latino immigrant mothers, fathers, & children. The goal of the study is to understand how mothers’ & fathers' values, goals, & beliefs influence their children’s social skills & competencies.

All applicants must be a native Spanish speaker, in order to transcribe and code the videos accurately. In addition to being able to dedicate 10 hours a week to assigned coding and transcribing tasks. Research Assistants will be trained in transcribing interactions and coding videos.

This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing graduate work in the social sciences.

If you’re interested please send your resume & unofficial transcript to Holly Farley (farleyhr@muohio.edu) (you can find the lab at http://www.popcenter.umd.edu/filab)
