Hand-in-Hand: Childcare and Social Justice in DC - Nov. 8th

Hand-in-Hand: Childcare and Social Justice in DC
When: Thurs. Nov. 8th , 5:30pm.
Where: Charles Carroll Room, Stamp Student Union

Voices of Social Change presents: an evening with the DC Childcare Collective and Empower DC. Come learn about how two community organizations are partnering to promote social justice in DC! The DC Childcare Collective (http://dcchildcarecollective.org/)  is an all-volunteer organization that seeks to empower low-income women and families to become active in their communities by providing free childcare to organizations working to promote tenant’s rights and affordable housing, stop the privatization of public spaces, and to secure quality, affordable childcare for all. Empower DC is one such organization; its mission is to enhance, improve, and promote the self-advocacy of low and moderate income DC residents in order to bring about sustained  improvements in their quality of life. At this Voices of Social Change event, representatives from the DC Childcare Collective and Empower DC will talk about their work in the community and conduct a Q&A. Refreshments will be served.
