Be A Guided Study Session Leader in the Spring

The Learning Assistance Service of the University of Maryland Counseling Center is seeking Guided Study Session (GSS) leaders for the spring 2013 semester.  Guided Study Sessions are peer led collaborative learning groups that are paired with typically difficult lower level courses in the sciences and social sciences.  GSS Leaders are trained to lead effective collaborative learning groups through participation in EDCP 318N in their first semester with the program; in subsequent semesters, leaders are paid a stipend of $1200 per semester.  We are seeking applicants for spring 2012 to lead groups in:  BSCI 105, BSCI 106, BSCI 201, BSCI 202, BSCI 207, BSCI 222; CHEM 131, CHEM 135, CHEM 231, CHEM 241, ECON 200 and PSYC 100.  Applicants must have attained sophomore standing, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have earned a minimum of A- in the course they want to lead.  For further information and an application form, go to the LAS Website:  www.counseling.umd.edu/LAS and click the link on the first page.  For specific questions, contact Dr. Marcy Marinelli at 301-314-7693 or at marcym@umd.edu .  For best consideration, applications are due by October 31, 2012.
