Greetings!
My name is Josh Hiscock and I am a doctoral candidate in the College Student Personnel Administration program at the University of Maryland. I am asking for your participation in my dissertation study. The purpose of my study is to understand how first-generation undergraduate college students think about financial aid and the process of paying for college. By better understanding this process, high school educators and college administrators can potentially learn how to better guide students in understanding their financial aid packages and, perhaps, assist more students in choosing to enroll in college.
Today, I am asking you to complete a five-minute survey to assist me in identifying participants for my study. I will use this survey to choose participants for the second portion of this study. The brief survey can be found here:
Continued participation in this study would require you to complete a 60-minute in-person interview.Participants must be current undergraduate students who are:I am looking for participants of any age, sex, race, ethnicity, religion, and academic major.
- 18 years of age or older
- Residents of Maryland
- Who have completed at least four semesters of undergraduate coursework, and
- Who are the first person in their immediate family to attend college
This interview will be conducted either on-campus at the University of Maryland or via Google Hangout or Skype between April 2019 and June 2019. If you are selected as a participant in the study, you will receive a $25 gift card to Amazon.
