ALLIED: Adventure Leadership & Learning Inclusion Experience through Diversity
Dates: Monday, March 16 - Saturday, March 21
Pre-Trip Meeting: Tuesday, March 10 from 8-10 PM at the Maryland Adventure Program in the Eppley Recreation Center
Location: Shenandoah National Park, VA
Description: ALLIED is a six day, five night
outdoor backpacking experience focused on exploring identity and its
impact on leadership. Throughout this adventure, you’ll learn the
basics of backpacking, outdoor cooking, camping, and navigation
while gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of yourself and
others.
Objectives:
Participants will:
Increase their awareness of self and identity
Engage in dialogue to better appreciate differences
Understand the structures of power, privilege, and oppression
Increase their understanding of how their identity influences their leadership
Collaborate to accomplish common goals through the celebration of differences
Utilize their learning to address issues of diversity and social justice in the campus community
