The Diamondback, the university’s independent student
newspaper, is hiring copy editors for the fall semester. Copy editors
fact-check articles and columns and proofread pages for accuracy, spelling,
grammar and AP style. They typically work 8-12 hours per week (2-3 shifts).
Shifts are four-hour commitments between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m., Sunday through
Thursday. This paid position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience
working in the newsroom for a daily paper, and a great way to get involved at
The Diamondback. All majors are welcome to apply; we especially encourage
candidates with previous journalism or editorial experience.
If you are interested in applying, please send your resume
via email attachment to copy desk chiefs Brittany Cheng
(cheng.brittany@gmail.com) and Lyla Lawless (llawless@terpmail.umd.edu). We are
looking to hire as soon as possible; the deadline for applications is August
31.
