The Shout “Fire!” Film Society is a student group of
film-enthusiasts and filming hobbyists that meets once a week to discuss
and participate in various film aspects. We provide an open and relaxed
environment for movie buffs on campus with special focus on film
discussion and short film production. Our meetings consist of module
presentations from the executive board as well as special guests. Each
module aims to create film discourse of various topics (among them
genres, movie directors, filming techniques, etc), as well as planning
film-related activities outside of meetings. Whether you're
knowledgeable or not, all film lovers are welcome!
We are also hosting a campus-wide competition where
students are given a video camera, 5 hours to film, and 4 hours to edit a
short film based on a prompt given the day of the competition. These
films will then be screened at a venue on campus where panel judges will
announce the winner of the competition. There may be prizes, and the
judges will choose a winner based on creative content rather than
technique. All levels are welcome! The 5-hour competition day will take
place on a Saturday around mid-October (TBA) so send your interest to cinemaroyaleumd@gmail.com.
If you have any questions, please find us on Orgsync or by e-mail at shoutfirefilmsociety@gmail.com. We look forward to meeting you!
