Numerous
studies show that students with internship experience have more
employment opportunities after graduation than students without
internship experience. Experience makes
you stand out to future employers!!!
The
Center for American Politics and Citizenship (CAPC) coordinates many
exciting opportunities for students interested in Government and
Politics. A participant in the Maryland
Internship Program (MIP) had this to say:
MIP
helped me appreciate and value the state government, between the two
levels of government I have come to realize that the true practice of
democracy is at the state level.
It is both a lot more transparent and user friendly….I was able to
attend conferences hosted by National Conference for State Legislatures
(NCSL), in which I was able to meet Senators, Representatives and
Delegates from plethora of other states.
CAPC
and the Department of Government and Politics offer three exciting
internship programs to help University of Maryland undergraduates gain
real-world experience in government
and public policy, coupled with classroom training: the Maryland Internship Program (MIP), Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP), and Public Policy Internship Program (PPIP). You will have the opportunity to intern in federal, state and local
government offices and agencies for a semester, earning course credit and valuable experience.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2014 Session of MIP (deadline November 1st), CHIP, and PPIP. The MIP application is attached to this email.
