AAP Summer Session II Position Announcement




Summer Transitional Program (STP)
Summer Tutoring Positions
  


Academic Achievement Programs’ (AAP) Tutoring and SI Program is looking for qualified tutors to assist students in the Summer Transitional Program (STP). Come and join our team and get paid while using your academic skills and confidence to help others succeed at their academic goals!

Responsibilities include:
Ø  Contract Period: July 1-6, 2013 and Summer Session II (July 8-August 16, 2013).
Ø  Participate in a required staff development/training during the week of July 1-5, 2013 and Opening session on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Ø  Attend General Education Course with students during Summer Session II.
Ø  Co-facilitate an Applied Study Skills component with a study skills lecturer.
Ø  Conduct a weekly tutoring lab.
Ø  Conduct a weekly tutoring session during evening Study Hall.
Ø  Maintain Records of students’ attendance and progress.
Ø  Attend weekly staff meetings.
Ø  All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Ø  Earned a “B” or better in the course you are applying for
Ø  Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
Ø  Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.  
Ø  Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
Two letters of recommendation, with one recommendation that can speak to your knowledge/abilities to tutor in content area.


The Program is looking for Tutors for the following Summer Session II courses (Tutors must be able to attend all lectures throughout the summer).

  • AASP 100
  • AMST 101
  • CCJS 100
  • CCJS 105
  • CLAS 170
  • GEOG 130
  • HIST 200
  • HIST 201
  • SOCY 200
  • THET 100
