Internships for Honors College Terps



CyberPoint International is please to offer paid college internships during the summer of 2015, from 1 June 2015 to 21 August 2015. We are looking for motivated college undergraduates from a variety of disciplines to join our staff next summer who are passionate about engineering, cyber security, scientific research, communications, and design. Please see the attached position descriptions below from three of our cutting edge teams.

Application Process

                   A current academic transcript
                   A 1-page written description of your interests
                   Links to any software or creative projects that you are actively involved in
A letter of recommendation is not required but is helpful

We will schedule short interviews during 1-15 December based on the application documents above and contact selected applicants on 15 January 2015.

Position Descriptions:

Security Analyst Intern:
The CyberPoint Technology Innovation Center (CTIC) conducts cutting edge offensive and defensive security research. We are interested in candidates for internship positions in the fields of malware analysis, reverse engineering, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment. This will provide you with an opportunity to learn how software is constructed at a deep level. You will also see how exploits are created and prevented. Skills in assembly, Java, and Python are helpful. Knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems is also important.

Application Developer Intern:
CyberPoint is looking for upper level undergraduates with a strong programming (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java, Ruby, Scala, etc.) and Linux system background interested in building web applications and enterprise software. An interest in distributed systems (e.g., AWS, DynamoDB, Riak, MongoDB), big data (e.g., HDFS, Hadoop, Hbase, Accumulo, Hive, Pig, Spark), and/or web development (e.g., HTML5, JSH, JavaScript, Spring, MVC) is a plus.

Research Scientist Intern:
CyberPoint Labs is looking for upper level undergraduates with a string scientific or computational background (e.g., mathematics, computer science, physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering) to work alongside our research staff on projects in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and Security Research. Software-related projects you may contribute to include scientific library development, system programming, and parallel programming with OpenCL/CUDA. Topics of research you will be involved in may include visualization, cryptography, machine learning, program analysis, and embedded development.

Communications and Marketing Intern:
As a communications and marketing intern with CyberPoint, you will assist in the design, planning, and promotion of a variety of corporate and program initiatives. We’re looking for someone with imagination, strong writing and communication skills, and solid experience in working with a diverse array of social media applications. Candidates working on degrees in communications, marketing, or journalism are preferred.

User Experience (US) Design Intern:
As a UX design intern with CyberPoint, you will work as part of the design team to help build compelling user experiences for a variety of cyber security tools and technologies. We’re looking for someone with imagination, a solid grounding in graphic design, a good grasp of the basics of UX design, and some experience with HTML5 and CSS. Candidates working on degrees in graphic or industrial design are preferred.
