Want to help pilot a student video show in satirical news? Come to the Laughing Matters brainstorming session in the first-floor auditorium of Knight Hall on Monday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.
Laughing Matters is a working group of faculty and students at UMD with a goal of encouraging students to experiment with comedic video news along the lines of John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight.” We are looking for:
- Talent
- Writers
- Producers
- Crew
Bring your energy and ideas to this kickoff session. It will be followed in a month by an Open Studio recording session at the UMTV studio in Tawes, where students can try their hand at news satire in front of a TV camera and audition for a pilot show.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with award-winning professional journalists at UMD’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism. The Nov. 14 session in Knight Hall is open to all students and faculty at UMD--and it will feature free pizza!
Questions? RSVP? Send email to visiting professor Leslie Walker, one of the organizers, at lwalker3@umd.edu.
