Student Job - Graphic Design

The Latin American Studies Center is looking for a creative part-time undergraduate assistant
 who specializes in graphic design for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The student should be able to design print media such as event flyers, posters, semester newsletters, and deliver electronic files that are ready for printing and/or viewing on the web (basic final production techniques).  She/he should also have some knowledge of Spanish or understanding of Latin American culture (students enrolled in the LASC Certificate Program or Spanish major are especially encouraged to apply).

Preferred skills include:

     • Experience with marketing and publicity
     • Experience with desktop publishing

 
Required skills include:

    • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

 The student must be able to work  at least 5-10 hours a week during the academic year and will be compensated at $9.50/hour.  We seek a student who is responsible and reliable, with good listening skills, who can work collaboratively. The student should be flexible and willing to adapt to a changing work environment.  Students may use their Federal Work Study allocation or, with the supervision of a faculty sponsor, receive course credit.  If you are interested in applying for the position, please submit a cover letter, resume, and sample works to lasc@umd.edu.
