UMD Math Success Program Hiring Now

A Math Coach is a student hired to provide coaching and tutoring to any student who is in need of extra support in a standard math, or math related, course. Coaches ensure a welcoming environment for all students who wish to utilize the services of the Math Success Program and help to promote confidence in math related knowledge bases. For best consideration, please submit an application here by 11:59pm on Friday, 2/21/20.

Additionally, the Department of Resident Life will check the cumulative GPA and grades in certain courses for prospective Math Coaches, as well as judicial eligibility related to academic dishonesty. Specifically, Math Coaches must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the semester in which they accept a position offer. Additionally, Math Coaches must have taken, received no lower than a B, and be able to tutor 140/141 or equivalent Calculus I & II courses (AP credits accepted as a substitute). Additionally, they must have taken, received no lower than a B, and be able to tutor another course such as 240/241, 246, Statistics, etc.

The Math Success Program is open from 6pm-9pm, Sunday-Thursday. It is the expectation that Math Coaches arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the opening of the program. Please indicate the days that you would be available to work at the Math Success Program during those days/times.

Questions about the Math Coach position should be directed to Christa Casazza at ccasazza@umd.edu or (301) 314-4255.
