On May 4, the University of Maryland will host the Climate Action 2016 forum,
a public conference in support of the objectives of the Climate Action 2016 multi-stakeholder summit to
be held in Washington, DC on May 5-6. Held at the Stamp Student Union
at the University of Maryland, the forum will provide an opportunity for
discussion among academia and a diverse range of stakeholders with an
interest in advancing the climate implementation
agenda post-Paris.
The forum will convene some 20
sessions across six thematic tracks:
city and sub-national implementation, resilience/adaptation, energy,
sustainable land-use, analysis & tools to support decision-making,
and climate
& society. An opening plenary session will feature U.S. Senator Ben Cardin,
a luncheon plenary will include Mr. Stephen Heintz,
President of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and a closing plenary will
feature former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and the next generation
of student climate leaders.
