Hello,
I’m part of the Clean Water Campaign
with MaryPIRG on campus. MaryPIRG is a student-run and
student-funded non-profit that works on a variety of public
interest issues. We are working to close loopholes in the
Clean Water Act to protect Maryland’s streams and wetlands
and I’m writing to let you know about a great event and
service opportunity and to see if your group is interested
in getting involved.
We’re hosting a stream clean up on
Saturday, April 11th, to not only give a little back to our
campus, but to raise awareness about pollution in streams
not covered by the Clean Water Act.
We’re working with a bunch of
different student groups like ENST Restore and the LEAF
Outreach Team and would love for your group to get involved
as well. We’ll be by the View and Lot 11 from 12pm-3pm.
We’ll have lemonade and other refreshments, a competition to
find the weirdest trash item, and the group that collects
the most bags of trash will win a prize.
Again, this a great opportunity to
give back to campus and get some community service under
your belt.
Is your group interested in
cosponsoring the event? Please let me know so we know how
many supplies to prepare by responding to this email, and
having your group members RSVP on our Facebook event page.
