The Gemstone Honors Program seeks a Federal Work Study Student Assistant and a Federal Work Study Graphic Designer for 2016-2017.

These positions includes a variety of projects that support the functioning of the Gemstone Honors Program, including but not limited to:
  • Attend weekly Student Assistant Meeting Mondays 9:00-9:45am in the Gemstone Suite (0100 Ellicott Hall).
  • Assisting with administrative office tasks (answering phones, copying, filing, data entry, etc.)
  • Assisting with the Gemstone Honors Program website update and maintenance.
  • Office space maintenance (bulletin board creation and updates, office supply inventory, and Innovation space maintenance).
  • Assisting with major event preparation and staffing to support the Gemstone Honors Program staff team (Junior Colloquia, Sophomore Thesis Proposal Defenses, Thesis Conference, Top Terps Award Ceremony, Citation Ceremony, Gemstone Honors Program Section Leader recruitment and training, etc.)
  • Graphic Designer: proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud software, such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc. and ability to create graphic designs for hallmark Gemstone events.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
The Gemstone Honors Program Student Assistant and Graphic Designer positions are 6-8 hours per week (the schedule is flexible). They are year-long positions with the potential to continue throughout the summer and the following academic year. The pay rate is $9.25 per hour. You must be a current University of Maryland student with Federal Work Study (FWS) for this position. Preference will be given to Honors College students.
