An organization on campus called "Peer to Peer" has been in contact with the UNHCR (the United Nation's Refugee Agency) in Washington D.C. It is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. They've been kind enough to host a briefing for a group of students at their D.C. office. The briefing will be with Chris Boian, UNHCR Spokesperson in the United States. Chris will provide a briefing on the global refugee crisis and UNHCR's mandate to protect and assist refugees, internally displaced and stateless people. There will also be time for Q&A.
The briefing will be held on Nov. 8 from 2:30 - 3:30 pm. All those attending will meet at the College Park Metro Station by 1 pm. The event sign-ups are first come first serve because there is limited space.
