UMD's chapter of Girl Up is a UN affiliated group dedicated to improving girls lives all around the world, especially through advocacy for health and education.
I am writing to inform you that our club will be hosting a menstrual products drive from October 21 to November 1, and all the donated products will be given to Shepherd's Cove Women's Shelter, a local homeless shelter in Capitol Heights. This cause is important almost two-thirds of low-income people in cities cannot afford the period products they need, but they are in short supply at shelters. If you would be willing to include the information about this drive in your Listserv/newsletter, that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested, the donation drive boxes will be in SORC on the group floor of STAMP for anyone to donate to.
