Are you interested in learning an African language? If so, join the African Languages Association! We organize free classes where students can learn African languages in the absence of an African Studies Department on campus. We held our first semester of classes during fall, 2017 and plan to resume classes this spring. We currently offer three classes in Igbo, Twi, and Yoruba taught by UMD students and alumni who are native-speakers of each language.
Classes for the spring semester will begin on the following dates:
Friday, February 9th
Igbo Class (5:00PM-6:00PM)
Saturday, February 10th
Yoruba Class (1:30PM-2:30PM)
Twi Class (3:00PM-4:00PM)
All classes will take place in the Stamp Student Involvement Suite from February 9th/10th to April 27th/28th. Our teachers will review topics taught last semester before moving on to new material, so don’t worry if you didn’t attend classes in the fall!
