Gemstone Team BASIC is currently trying to raise funds
through LaunchUMD, so we can continue to complete our research. Our
research aims to increase the efficiency of a novel cancer treatment
known as Adoptive Cell Transfer therapy (ACT). ACT uses the body's own
immune cells to fight cancer. However, the micro-environment of the
cancer cells creates an acidic barrier that prevents the immune cells
from effectively attacking the tumor. We are hoping to improve the
efficacy of ACT by manipulating the micro-environment of the cancer
cells to make them more accessible.
