Professor
Yuan Zheng from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) will be
giving a talk on Thursday, April 3, at 11 A.M. in the third floor
conference room (3114) in Chincoteague
Hall, UMD.
The title of the talk is: "Chinese Foreign Policy in the Xi Jinping Era and its Implications for U.S.-China Relations."
About the speaker:
Dr. Yuan Zheng is a senior fellow and director of American foreign policy Studies, Institute of American Studies, CASS. He focuses on American foreign policy, US-China relations, American election politics and political corruption in the United States. Yuan has been working at the Institute of American Studies since 1999. Dr. Yuan is also a professor at the Gradual School of the CASS in which he teaches a course on American foreign policy. He has been invited to give lectures at Beijing University, People’s University, Chinese People's Public Security University and other research institutes or governmental agencies.

is an author or coauthor of several books on American foreign policy,
US-China relationship and American politics. He has published numerous
book chapters and academic papers,
and has written more than 300 commentaries for newspapers and magazines
in China, such as People’s Daily, China Daily, Beijing Review and
Outlook Weekly, etc. He also has been interviewed by various media, such
as CCTV, Beijing TV Station, Xinhua News Agency,
People’s Daily, Phoenix TV, Washington Post, Financial Times and VOA,
etc.
Yuan
received his Ph.D. degree from the Graduate School of CASS and M.A.
from Nanjing University. He was a visiting fellow of the Asia-Pacific
Center for Security Studies (APCSS,
Hawaii) in spring 2011. As a visiting scholar, Yuan once studied at
Stanford University (1998-1999) and University of Maryland at College
Park (2003-2004). He was also an alumnus of Salzburg Global Seminar in
Austria and the Johns-Hopkins University-Nanjing
University Center for Chinese and American Studies in Nanjing, China.
