In
recent months an environmental threat has
descended upon MD that is so huge -- so negatively transformative -- that it
requires an unprecedented response. Dominion Resources is proposing a
massive industrial plan to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) out of Cove
Point, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in southern Maryland. The plan would
expand fracking for gas across the Mid-Atlantic region. It would lead to new
community-disrupting pipelines. And it's one of the worst things our
state could do for global warming.
That’s why local environmental nonprofit, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, is touring
across the state to educate and mobilize MD citizens about this important
issue. Knowing that UMD is a hub of intelligent, motivated, and passionate
young adults, they’ve decided to partner with the Student Government
Association and bring the tour to College Park! Check
it out:
