2014 Undergraduate Mentored Research Internships in Health Disparities and Clinical and Translational Research

We are excited to announce two newly expanded research internship opportunities aimed at engaging, recruiting, and training highly qualified undergraduate students from underrepresented minority and other disparity populations, from local universities, into minority health and health disparities and clinical and translational research careers.

The Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Research (GHUCCTS) and Center of Excellence for Health Disparities (CEHD) are jointly sponsoring the 2014 Spring/Summer Opportunity for Achievement in Research-Health (SOAR-Health) and Spring/Summer Opportunity for Achievement in Research-Minority Health and Health Disparities (SOAR-MHHD) Programs.

These programs will bring together undergraduate students from diverse background and interests in the Washington, DC metro area to create a rich mix of interns from across disciplinary backgrounds with different career goals. Research interns will participate in multi-disciplinary research projects of senior investigators who will also serve as mentors and role models. The programs will begin in the 2014 spring semester and go through the summer. Please see the attached letter for more information.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in encouraging highly promising interested undergraduate students to apply to these specialized didactic and mentored research programs and that you widely distribute the attached flier announcement through your information channels. The application deadline is Friday, December 13, 2013
