Maryland Social Entrepreneur Corps (MSEC) Information Sessions - Wednesday March 8th


Maryland Social Entrepreneur Corps (MSEC) Information Sessions are being held on Wednesday, March 8th across campus:Students from the Honors College are welcome to attend any of the following:
  • 12:00 - 1:00 pm  School of Public Policy (1207 Van Munching Hall)
  • 2:00 -3:00 pm    Honors College (0100 La Plata Hall)
  • 3:30 - 4:30 pm  College Park Scholars and Living/Learning Communities (1100 Cambridge Community Center)
  • 5:00 - 6:00 pm   Education Abroad (H.J. Patterson Hall
The Maryland Social Entrepreneur Corps (MSEC) is a social entrepreneurship internship program abroad for UMD undergraduate and graduate students from all majors. We have extended the application deadline for this 9 credit program to March 15th and are encouraging students to learn more about the program by attending one of several information sessions being held this coming Wednesday, March 8th.  The co-founder and president of Social Entrepreneur Corps (SEC) and Community Empowerment Solutions, Greg Van Kirk, will be coming to campus on that day to speak with students and to share his insights on how social entrepreneurship can bring lasting improvement to people's lives.

Looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer living and working in another country?

Interested in learning the skills and tools to become a change-maker in your own community? Discovering how social entrepreneurship can bring lasting improvement to people's lives?

We invite you to join the 2017 Maryland Social Entrepreneur Corps (MSEC), a unique study and internship program abroad for undergraduate and graduate students where you will spend your summer in a Latin American country observing, creating and implementing sustainable business solutions to poverty-related challenges.   MSEC is open to all majors and offers scholarship opportunities for every applicant! You can learn Spanish while living in a home-stay and working with the entrepreneurs, all while earning a total of 9 credits! Choose from three locations:  
- Ecuador (May 28-July 21, 2017)
- Nicaragua (May 21 – July 14, 2017)
- Dominican Republic (June 20 – August 14, 2017)
