Peer to Peer is currently working on becoming UMD's newest student organization. Our mission is to help the children of refugee families in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area assimilate into their new communities. We envision this to be a mentorship program, where students from UMD are matched with the child of a refugee family. As an organization, we will foster the growth of these mentor/mentee relationships by hosting both social and educational events and gatherings.
We are currently taking applications for mentors. We will be working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). As a mentor, you would be given the opportunity to tutor students in an after-school program for refugees. The students mainly need help with math and practicing conversational and academic English.
