The Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center of Georgetown University has an opening for a research assistant to work on an NCI-funded smoking
cessation intervention trial among individuals undergoing lung cancer screening. The person in this position will serve as a tobacco treatment specialist and will conduct a telephone-based smoking
cessation intervention with older adults undergoing lung cancer screening and with patients who have been diagnosed with cancer. Additional responsibilities include participant assessments, data
management and analysis, literature reviews, and preparation of manuscripts and grants.
A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, or another social science is required, as well as at leasttwo years of experience serving as a research assistant for a behavioral research project. Prior experience working on behavioral tobacco-related research projects, experience working with statisticalsoftware (SPSS, SAS), and fluent Spanish are all highly preferred but not required.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates in psychology or public health who are interested in attending graduate school in the social sciences or medical school, and for those with an MA/MS in psychology or a MPH who have tobacco-related experience. Start date is May/June 2018.
