Dear University Honors Students,
I am delighted to announce a new award – the
University of
Maryland University Honors Spring Speaker Award, which will be
given to one
University Honors student at each Spring Citation ceremony.
This award is modeled on the University’s
Commencement
Speaker recognition. It brings with it a small monetary prize but,
more
importantly, the honor of delivering the student address at the
Spring Citation
ceremony.
We are seeking self-nominations, which you may
submit at
this site: https://umdsurvey.umd.edu/SE/?SID=SV_eo07Q2A97VnIbxb
In order to be eligible for this award, you
must:
·
have a GPA of at least 3.5
·
have already been awarded
your Honors citation
·
be a student in University
Honors
·
be available to speak at
the ceremony (see date
below)
You will see from the nominating site that we
would like to
know why you are interested in being the Spring Speaker and about
what you
would talk about in your address. This information, in addition to
your
activities in and contributions to University Honors will be among
the criteria
of selection.
The 2016 Spring Citation ceremony will be held
in the Chapel
on Friday, April 8, 2016
from
4:00PM-6:30PM. The selected speaker will be notified by March 28, 2016.
The deadline for self-nominations is: March 20, 2016.
