The Diamondback, the university's independent student newspaper, is looking to hire copy editors for the spring semester. Copy editors fact-check stories and proofread pages for accuracy, spelling, grammar and style. They typically work 8-12 hours a week (two or three shifts). Shifts are four-hour periods between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m. Copy editing is a great way to get involved at The Diamondback and gain experience working in the newsroom of a daily paper. You do not have to be a journalism major to apply.
If you are interested, please send a resume and cover letter to co-copy desk chiefs Karen Mawdsley (kmawdsle@terpmail.umd.edu) and Andi Hubbell (hubbellae@gmail.com). We are looking to start hiring as soon as possible.
