Check Out Actress Fran Drescher's Do Good Challenge Video - Fran will be in College Park on April 10th!

Award-winning television star and philanthropist Fran Drescher is coming to the University of Maryland on Wednesday April 10th to lead an “American Idol”-style celebrity panel of judges for our second-annual Do Good Challenge.  Please mark your calendars and watch the video she just did for the Do Good Challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyG_kJz7dws&feature=youtu.be  Please also share the video widely with your friends.

The Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership’s Do Good Challenge is in full swing and Fran is a wonderful partner for our Center and the competition.  The award-winning actress known to TV audiences for her leading roles in “The Nanny” and “Happily Divorced,” is also a leading public health advocate.  After surviving uterine cancer, Drescher decided “to turn my pain into purpose and ensure no woman dies because of a late stage cancer diagnosis.”  In 2007, she started the Cancer Schmancer Movement to work for prevention and awareness.  Fran was instrumental in getting the United States’ first Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act passed into law, and was appointed to the distinguished position of Special Envoy for Women’s Health Issues by the U.S. State Department.  She has also published multiple books on the New York Times best-seller list and I encourage you to also check out this nice video about her philanthropic efforts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKMVz3qfn-I
