Happy Black History Month! To kick off the month, we'll be launching the Black History and UMD Landmark Tours at the University of Maryland! The Black History & UMD Landmark tours will explore the history of black people and their contributions at Maryland by highlighting places of significance on campus. These tours were developed by Dr. Kim J. Nickerson, Assistant Dean & Diversity Officer from the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences and coordinated through the Office of Multicultural Involvement and Community Advocacy (MICA). Check out this DBK article written last year for the launch on the online, interactive tours.
The Black History & UMD Landmark Tours will start this Thursday at 12:30 pm! Tours will also be given Friday, February 15 at 1pm; Thursday, February 21 at 2pm; and Thursday, February 28 at 12:30pm. The tours are open to students, faculty, and staff. Each tour will start at the front steps of the Rossborough Inn and will have a maximum capacity of 15 participants. Spaces will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please click here to reserve your spot.
Each tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress warmly, and be prepared to walk.
