Justice for
Juniors, an on-campus organization allied with George Washington University and
the University of Maryland Baptist Christian Ministry, is hosting a forum on “Hip-Hop’s
Influence on Juvenile-Police Encounters.” Justice for Juniors is committed to
aiding juveniles in the juvenile justice system by mentoring them and helping
them develop new ideas, hoping to reduce recidivism rates. Considering recent
events regarding police-citizen interactions, we believe exploring this topic
is particularly important, and this forum would be worth attending.
The event is
scheduled for Thursday, November 5th, at 7:00PM in the Benjamin Banneker Room
in Stamp.
The following
organizations and institutions have confirmed to have a panelist at the forum:
(1) Maryland
State Attorney's Office
(2) Maryland
NAACP
(3) The P.G.
County Police Department
(4) UMD
African-American Studies Department
(5) Parent
Watch, Inc., a parent advocacy organization
