Chilean Culture, Democracy, and Social Change. Winter Term, 2017


This Education Abroad Offering allows a unique opportunity to study the lead up to and continuing effects of the 1973 Coup D'etat and the following 17-year-long dictatorship through the lens of culture, writing, and the arts.

Program Dates:  Jan 1-20 2017

Language of Instruction:  English
Program Fee:  $3950.


Visit numerous sites included in the readings: major governmental and cultural institutions as well as former detention centers and other places of repression which have been transformed into museums, theaters, and parks for reflection and the preservation of collective memory.


Participate in a community engagement opportunity where you will help run a week-long summer camp for 20 to 30 elementary and middle school aged children in Valparaiso.


Explore three cities: Santiago, the bustling and arts-enriched capital city; Valparaiso, world UNESCO Heritage site; Pucon, a beautiful lake town known for its abundance of outdoor adventure activities.
Education Abroad will enroll you in one of the following 3-credit courses: ARHU350, CMLT498C, GVPT309F, HIST329N, HONR349C.
