Job Description

             General Assistant



Part-time 10-25 hours per week, with the ability to work up to 40 hours per week during school breaks and the summer at the University of Maryland if needed. 

Opportunity for experience in a business office.  Perform routine office work under supervision. May function as a receptionist, file clerk, typist or perform data entry.

Summery of Primary Duties
  1. Receives and directs incoming calls and visitors.
  2. Assists in maintaining records and filing systems.
  3. Assembles and compiles basic data.
  4. Operates office equipment such as single and multi-line telephones, personal computers, typewriters, facsimile machines, shredders, and photocopiers.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:  University of Maryland student

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability:
-         to read, to spell accurately, and to write legibly
-         to perform arithmetic computations
-         to operate manual and automated office equipment and keyboards
-         to file documents manually or electronically
-         to communicate effectively and to maintain effective work relationships

Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) would be a plus.
