NEH Spring 2013 Internship Opportunity

The National Endowment for the Humanities Office of Congressional and White House Affairs is looking for qualified applicants to the NEH Spring 2013 Internship Program. In the past, our interns have worked on several large events at the White House, and have assisted on various projects highlighting the NEH’s programs. Specific tasks may include managing invitation and RSVP lists, drafting briefing memos, managing our web presence, conducting outreach to Congressional offices, and communicating with presenters and VIPs.

We are looking for interns who possess strong writing and communication skills, and who have a passion for the humanities. Interns must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, and be professional and detail-oriented. Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter is preferred. Our internships are unpaid, but we are able to provide transportation reimbursement. We are looking for a commitment of at least 2-3 full days a week. Please send a resume, short writing sample, and cover letter to cnoble@neh.gov by December 12th to apply.

Duties:

Special Events and White House Affairs Responsibilities:
       Conceive and execute events highlighting specific NEH funding recipients
       Locate venues, work with vendors, and plan unique components
       Identify and coordinate with event partners and experts in the field
       Build audiences
       Create promotional materials

Congressional Affairs Responsibilities:
       Draft correspondence with Congressional offices
       Plan and attend meetings with Congressional arts and education policy aides
       Create informative, printed materials for aides and members
       Plan and execute workshops and briefings for aides
       Coordinate Congressional attendance at special events
