Norman
R. Augustine is the former chairman
and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation. Upon retirement, he joined the faculty of Princeton University. He previously served as chairman and principal officer of the AmericanRed
Cross for nine years. He also served as chair of The National
Academies' Committee on Prospering in the Global Economy of the 21st
Century that produced the report Rising Above the Gathering Storm:
Energizing and Employing America for a Brighter Economic Future
in 2005.
A
recipient of the President's National Medal of Technology and the Joint
Chiefs of Staff Distinguished Public Service Award, Mr. Augustine has a
long and distinguished career in the aerospace industry as well as in
public service as an Assistant Secretary of
the Army, Under Secretary of the Army, and later Acting Secretary of
the Army. In addition to numerous corporate and non-profit board
memberships, Mr. Augustine currently serves on the University System of
Maryland Board of Regents and he has served as a trustee
of Johns Hopkins University, Princeton University, and the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds 27 honorary degrees.
