Christina Lagdameo, an University Honors
Alumna, is committed to the social, economic and political empowerment
of women, girls and marginalized communities. She recently served as
President Obama’s Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on Asian
Americans and Pacific Islanders.
From
2000 to 2007, Lagdameo worked for the White House Office of Management
and Budget where she examined over $45 billion in federal income support
programs, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, Refugee Resettlement
and issues relating to asset poverty.
Most
recently, Lagdameo received the AAUW/NASPA Women of Distinction Award
at the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. Lagdameo
graduated from the University of Maryland where she helped establish the
first Asian American Studies Program in the DC metropolitan area. She
is a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow, a Presidential
Management Fellow and received her Master’s in Public Policy from the
New School for Social Research in New York City. She is recently married
and preparing to volunteer in India with her husband for an
organization that rescues and rehabilitates survivors of human
trafficking.
