5K for Freedom: A Run For Humanity Fundraiser - April 5
SES will be co-hosting the 5K for Freedom: A Run For Humanity Fundraiser (the biggest event of our spring semester) with Oxfam UMD on April 5 at 5:30pm ! Whether you participate as a runner or volunteer to help manage it, the 5K will be a great opportunity to join other students passionate for learning about human trafficking and the refugee crisis and how we can create a positive impact on this issue both on campus and in the broader community.
Advance registration is $15. The first 50 students to check-in will receive an awesome t-shirt and the money raised will go to the SAFE Center. This event is always memorable for the participants and runners. Even if you aren't able to attend the event, you can still donate. This means you can invite your friends and family away from UMD to donate.
Please help us by 1) registering and running/volunteering at https://www.givebutter.com/5kforFreedom2019 and 2) recruiting runners and marketing on social media and within your social networks! If you have any questions feel free to email umdses@gmail.com
If you find yourself with extra time this spring break and are missing SES, you can find seven fantastic documentaries to watch on various aspects of human trafficking across the world here: https://www.sundance.org/blogs/special-edition/7-films-to-watch-during-national-slavery-and-human-trafficking-prevention-month#/
