SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS BALTIMORE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

BALTIMORE

Soccer Without Borders (SWB) is a non-profit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for
positive change, providing newcomer refugee, asylee and immigrant youth with a toolkit to

Language Development with soccer and academic programming in a daily after-school program.
High school programming offers academic support (tutoring), SAT and college prep, and soccer
programming throughout the year in weekend workshops, drop in academic office hours, and

ABOUT SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
SWB first began programming in 2006 to address three critical issues facing young people in
underserved communities throughout the world:

1. A lack of safe spaces where young people feel cared for, have a voice and can experience the
joy of sport.
2. A lack of opportunity for youth to actively explore social issues and community challenges.
3. A lack of social capital and access to potential opportunities for education, employment and
personal growth.

In the last several years, SWB has built collaborative, creative programs around the US and
abroad, combining soccer with team-building activities, civic engagement projects, off-field
lessons and workshops, and culture exchange. Through these activities and with the support of
caring mentors and coaches, youth acquire key soft and hard skills needed to overcome obstacles
to growth, inclusion, and personal success.
