Internships with Epilepsy Foundation

Government Relations Intern – Epilepsy Foundation

The Epilepsy Foundation, a non-profit national foundation dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy and seizure disorders, seeks an intern to work in the Government Relations department for fall 2017.

Epilepsy Foundation interns will be exposed to many aspects of federal and state policymaking, and will have the opportunity to:
• Conduct research on federal and state legislation to further our advocacy work.
• Attend pertinent committee meetings, public hearings, and coalition meetings as assigned.
• Interact with local and national advocacy leaders to develop collaborative relationships.
• Write action alerts and legislative updates for our grassroots network.
• Craft website and social media content.
• Assist in preparations for our annual Public Policy Institute and Teens Speak Up! Conference, a great opportunity to help teens become advocates for the epilepsy community.

Qualifications:
• Rising sophomore, junior, or senior standing.
• Able to make a commitment of at least 10-12 hours/week (full time internships are also available).
• Prefer major coursework in Government & Politics/Political Science, Public Policy, Public Health, Pre-law, or other writing-intensive majors. Students majoring exclusively in international relations or global affairs are not eligible to apply.

The Epilepsy Foundation will work with educational institutions to help interns obtain course credit for their work, and a transportation stipend may be available for eligible candidates. The Foundation is located in Landover, Maryland, and is metro-accessible from the Orange Line on
the D.C. Metro.

If you are interested in applying, please send an email to Jenna Mathis at tsu@efa.org with your resume and a cover letter. We look forward to bringing in an intern to join our team.
