name is Ryan Steinbach, Coordinator at the Center for Social Value
Creation. I’m writing to personally invite you and your students to the
7th Annual Social Enterprise Symposium (SES15), planned for February
27th, 2015 at the Stamp Student Union.
From
social entrepreneurship to corporate sustainability, the 2015 Symposium
will explore social impact and value creation from a variety of lenses.
Academic allies from across the University of Maryland will lead
interactive sessions and workshops that inspire social and environmental
change, and emphasize entrepreneurial thinking. In particular, we
thought your students would enjoy the session titled “Strategic Giving
vs Conscious Capitalism - Which Creates Greater Impact?”. Here’s a
brief description:
This
session will feature a lively debate with two industry professionals
facing off over one big question – strategic giving or conscious
capitalism? Which makes the greater impact? Speakers will discuss the
financial scale of corporate philanthropy, the future of strategic
giving, and explore whether profit-centered companies employing
conscious capitalism are best suited to realize financial success and
transformational impact. Session participants will break into groups and
engage in guided mini-debates/discussions about the pros and cons of
each approach.

This event is free to UMD students, staff and faculty, but registration
is required. (Attendees can come and go as class schedules allow). The
Social Enterprise Symposium is truly an educational and memorable
