The
University Honors Best Honors Student Paper Awards were established in
honor of the founding director of the Maryland University Honors
Program, Dr. John Portz.
These three awards recognize the best essay, research paper and thesis written by an Honors College student.
Student
winners, alongside their faculty mentors, will be honored at a special
luncheon on Friday, May 2, 2014. Student winners will receive a cash
prize applied to
their student account, a photograph taken with their faculty mentor,
and a certificate acknowledging their award. Prizes for each of the
three categories are:
Best Honors Essay: $250
Best Honors Research Paper: $500
Best Honors Thesis: $1,000
Submissions
must have been completed or presented during the spring 2013 or fall
2013 semester. The submission deadline is Monday, April 7, 2014 by 2pm.
