Beyond the Classroom Program - Where passion meets opportunity!

As a BTC student you will get the opportunity to:
·         Explore civic issues that matter to YOU!     
·         Engage in community service and civic learning activities;
·         Gain real-world experience through high-quality internships;     
·         Receive a “Civic Engagement” notation on your transcript;

Students gain a foundation and apply their skills in civic engagement and social change in a global context across 3 courses (7 credits). Past internship locations include the Sierra Club, Food and Water Watch, the AIDS Institute, the City of Bowie Department of Planning and Economic Development, and many more! Students have also led change in local communities by raising awareness about sexual violence at UMD and seeking solutions to food issues in College Park, among many other student-run initiatives.

Applications for Fall 2016 are accepted on a rolling basis. The final deadline to apply is May 6, 2016.
