UMD's National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association and Rise Above present: APHASIA: H.O.P.E. IS A FOUR-LETTER WORD. Eager to share his story with the world, Carl McIntyre starred as himself in this celebrated short film, which recounts Carl’s struggles with the communication disorder, aphasia, in the first year and a half post-stroke. This is followed by a humorous and moving live presentation in which Carl explains the process of coming to terms with his condition and making positive decisions about his new life.
