Amateur Strings Players wanted for Saturday Philharmonia, New String Orchestra

Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 p.m. is the first meeting of the Saturday Philharmonia, a new group on campus for strings players of all levels. Every weekend this group will read through and rehearse masterworks for string orchestra by Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Barber, Haydn and more! It is a no-fault, fun way to experience great works of classical music.

No registration is required. Just show up with your instrument and we’ll play!

If you would like music in advance to practice, e-mail dhopkins@terpmail.umd.edu for pdfs of the music.

Where: Orchestral Rehearsal Room (room 1218) of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts
When: Every Saturday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., beginning on March 7th
Who: Violin, Viola, cello and double-bass players of every level are welcome.
