Are you an undergraduate student, Pell Grant recipient, and U.S. citizen with international interests? You may be eligible to apply for the U.S. State Department’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which provides up to $5,000! In the last 5 years, 136 UMD students have won Gilman Scholarships, winning a total of $450,050!
The deadline to apply for virtual, in-person and hybrid programs beginning between Dec 2021 and October 2022 is October 5, 2021. **If Spring 2022 Study Abroad program are affected by COVID students will most likely be able to use their Gilman awards for study abroad in a future semester.**

The National Scholarships Office and the Office of Education Abroad imagine that you may have many questions about the Gilman scholarship, the application process, and study abroad in general. Please join staff from both offices to learn about these topics and ask any questions you may have.
