Monday, Nov 7 at 7 pm: UMD Solidarity Photo Against Dakota Access Pipeline

We, the American Indian Student Union, call upon the communities in the University of Maryland to join us in a solidarity photo with water protectors in Standing Rock who are fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline on Monday, November 7th at 7pm in front of the statue of Frederick Douglass in Hornbake Plaza.

We cannot wait for President Obama or other politicians "to see how it plays out" while people are being attacked and arrested because they are protecting their land and fighting for the right to have clean water. The pipeline is almost finished so we MUST make our voices heard!

We are standing in solidarity with water protectors in Standing Rock who are facing methods of genocide such as massive militarized police force, the desecration of burial sites and the seizing and poisoning of lands through brutal force by unleashing dogs onto people, commissioning low-lying helicopters, intimidation with weapons such as rubber bullets and tanks, and arresting hundreds of Native Americans and allies without cause.

Thank you to Political Latinxs United for Movement and Action in Society, Community Roots, Students for Justice in Palestine, Fossil Free MD, Our Revolution, and Coalition of Latinx Student Organizations for helping us make this happen!
Thank you!!
