Responsible Conduct of Research Training 11/19

The 2007 America COMPETES Act directed NSF to require that all funded students and postdocs undergo training in the responsible conduct of research (RCR). The implementation of this requirement became effective January 4, 2010 and now all institutions submitting proposals to NSF must certify that they have a training plan in place for undergraduate and
graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who will be supported by NSF to conduct research.

The Division of Research is offering an RCR Training that would satisfy this requirement. Students are required to attend the whole day of training which includes lunch and cost of the lunch. A minimal fee to
cover the cost of coffee break and lunch ($20) will be assessed. This is an unallowable direct charge to any sponsored award.

Students can register for the class by emailing Jenn DeSimone at jdesi@umd.edu<mailto:jdesi@umd.edu>. Please provide her with your name, department, and department's FRS Account Number.

There is a class currently scheduled on Wednesday, November 19, from 8:00 - 4:30 PM, Room 0118 Symons Hall.

Space is limited, so please sign up as soon as possible.

Cancellation Policy:

Attendees are required to attend the whole day of training in order to receive your certificate.

If you are not able to attend a class, you must cancel your registration as soon as possible by emailing Jenn DeSimone at
jdesi@umd.edu<mailto:jdesi@umd.edu>. Please note, charges will still be incurred for those registrants who do not attend class and have forgotten
to cancel their online registration with 72 hours advance notice.
